March 2010
2 more books to illustrate. I am becoming a book illustrator it seems.
In the last week of February, first week of March I made the difficult decision to end my 13-year association with Bartender magazine. There was no "falling out" or dramatic event that preceded my choice. I just felt like there wasn't anything left for me to do with that subject or genre of illustration.
January-February 2010
In the first week of February I found out that I have won 2 more competitive Addy Awards with my illustration work. That makes 7 in total that I have won in the past few years.
I am getting ready to start illustrating my 16th children's book. I also just signed a contract to start doing editorial cartoons for a political website.
In late January I illustrated a book cover for a publisher in California.
November-December 2009
The work flow for me is about as heavy as it has ever been. After finishing the children's book "Ricky's Story" (see October-November) I designed and illustrated a book cover on famous jazz trumpeters. Magazine assignments will keep me booked up through the end of the year.
October-November 2009
I am working on a children's book that is the life story of Rick Hoyt.
Rick is a man with cerebral palsy. He and his father make up Team Hoyt. Rick and his father have done nearly 1,000 road races and triathlons over the past 20 years, using special equipment that allows Rick to ride along as his father supplies the power.
It's a great story of one man's dedication and determination to overcome his disability and another man's love for his son.
I also recently completed a fantasy detective book cover for a publisher in Great Britain. |
